1935 Newfoundland CENSUS statistics for the Reidville area.

Below is a table derived from information found in the 1935 Census of Newfoundland - District Humber (Section from Humber Canal to South brook). It is included here to verify to readers the communities where the first settlers of Reidville lived in 1935. Follow the links to statistics for each community at the top of each list to get more information. Reidville, defined as the community between the two ravines, Trout Brook and The Gulch, was first settled in 1933. In 1935 Steadman Reid and his family lived at Steadman's Field (see map on page 3). At the same time, Henry Janes and his family lived at Janes' Field (see map on page 3). Ella Scoville, granddaughter of Timothy Reid, recalls that his family owned a farm that lay between Steadman's Field and Janes' Field and extended from the river bank back to where the Deer Lake airport currently exist. (Note: Verify that this property belonged to Timothy Reid and not Ella's parents - Cyril and Catherine (nee Kate Reid - Timothy's daughter) Goosney. If so, where did Timothy and Elizabeth Reid live in Upper Humber during 1935? Was it on the south side of the River? This must be determined in order to surmise that this left only William Thomas Reid and his family living at Reidville during the 1935 Newfoundland Census.
