Welcome to the web page for the Town of
Reidville. Even though we are only a small town with a population of a little
more than 500 people we have lots to offer. Our location on the scenic Humber
River and immediately at the beginning of the Viking Trail puts us at a position
where all regional amenities are at our fingertips. On entering our town you
will find The Newfoundland Insectarium, the only one of its kind in Atlantic
Canada. While visiting us you can enjoy some horseback riding at the Cache Rapid
Stables or enjoy some great fishing which mother nature provides along the
Humber River; a pastime that many locals are quite passionate about. Our town
turns into a winter wonderland when mother nature covers us with a blanket of
snow. The sound of snowmobiles and the anticipation of a great snow fall creates
quite an excitement around town. The Gorge at the Gros Morne National Park makes
for a great day trip on snowmobile.
The town’s recreational facilities (community
center, sports field, playground and tennis court) are always available whether
it is for a sliding party, a ball game or a wedding - the sky’s the limit.
A short distance along the TCH you will find
many conveniences; the Deer Lake Airport (10 minutes away), Corner Brook (30
minutes away), Gros Morne National Park (30 minutes away) and the Port Aux
Basque ferry (two and half hours away), just to name a few.
The town of Reidville has a very active
volunteer base that is second to none. This was displayed during our come home
year celebrations in 2009. We are a very proud town and have a lot of small town
spirit which is greatly needed for sustainability - a town is it’s people.
On behalf our councilors, I hope you enjoy your
visit to our website and at this time I would like to welcome you to visit our
town. The residents of Reidville are very friendly and our town is always open
for business
